6 Months

Emma is already 6 months old today; it went by so fast and so slow all at the same time! She had her check up and no surprise is still a long, skinny minnie, but in great health. She is ready to eat more solids and (hopefully) start sleeping through the night. Emma can sit up with occasional intervention, roll over and over and Patrick thinks that she waves to him sometimes. Most of her hair has fallen out, but very little has come it to replace it. Still no teeth. We love our perfect, little berry. Here she is helping me fold her diapers, sort of.....

Is the grass greener?

My parents came to visit last weekend. My mom helped me with Emma while I packed for our upcoming vacation. My dad did gardening and helped Patrick pickup our fridge (and some rose plants) from the old house and move it into the new one. I am SOOOO excited about having another freezer. I cleaned it right away and put in my milk and some frozen dinners. I know we are gonna love having extra food space so I can cook ahead for when I go back to work full time :( Boo for me!

Here is Emma out in the sunshine. She is glad that Daddy planted grass for her yard, but she is not quite sure if she wants to touch it.

First Taste

So we thought that maybe Emma needed a little more sumthin, sumthin to keep her full at night and decided to try some rice cereal. It didn't work, but she didn't mind the food. I think it is because of her reflux; she has been re-swallowing mouthfuls of sour milk for months. She ate fine, but wasn't too sure about the texture. And we weren't too sure about the point; it felt like we were spooning lumpy milk into her mouth one drop at a time. Nursing is much faster and requires no prep or dishes. Definitely no rush on the food!

Wild Woman

Shirley bought her this fabulous little number; I think she was out hitting the clubs in this outfit!

July 4th

We had a mellow 4th. We went to a festival in Rancho with Garrett, Cheryll and Owie, swam in the pool and did fireworks in our court. Emma was snoozing long before that, but she'll have many more 4ths in the future. Owen was so cute her last weekend; he kept bringing her toys and patting her hand. I think he's ready for a sibling!

So Garrett was setting off all the fireworks while the rest of us watched. Owen wasn't quite sure if he liked it or not. After each firework, he would cheer saying, "Yay, Daddyworks, all done!"

Like Magic

This is a picture of the happiest baby sleeping in a Moses basket at grandma's house.

Emma is finally sleeping longer than 2 hour stretches at night. I had a serious talk with her last thursday about mommy's sleep deprivation and she surprised me by sleeping for a 5 hour stretch. I was so shocked that I kept waking up to spy on her. Cross your fingers that this new schedule is here to stay as we try to transition away from the swaddle.

Still out of order, but more current - 1st Fathers' Day

Emma and Daddy - she look just like him, but that's okay with me! I think she got her mohawk from his side of the family.
