Julia's Kitchen

Last weekend we went out to dinner with Patrick's buddy from work an his wife. It was the first time I had met them and they are great! We wish they lived in our part of the county.
I was in the mood for snooty food (as usual) so we went to try Julia's Kitchen in Napa. It is the restaurant inside of Copia that is a kind tribute to Julia Childs. The dinner was awesome, but dessert left something to be desired. I had a grilled fish that was perfectly seasoned and flaky. MMMmmm, but by banana roulade had no banana flavor. Patrick had lamb and this crazy deconstructed rocky road dessert, which included a mini milk shake. It looked cool, but ended up being impossible to eat. The food was really expensive, not that this was unexpected and service was meduim. 3.25 stars out of 4.

Spring Bedding

Spring is here and Patrick has taken the plastic off of our windows. (Yes, plastic. We are too poor to afford new double pane windows and sliding doors, especially since the housing market has crashed and we may never be able to sell our townhouse to get a house.) And I have changed our bedding to the spring/summer collection. Thank-you to all of you who gave us any of this stuff for our wedding. Doesn't it look great!

Beard Fans

All you fans of Patrick's beard will be sorry to hear that is has been shaved. I liked his homly hair, but it scratched my face when he kissed me and he says it was itchy. I'm sure we haven't seen the last of that hairy beast as the busy farming season is begining.

Easter and Ester

So I was on a plane over purim and had to listen to the Megillah on my ipod. It is not nearly as fun when people are not dressed up and singing it to contemporary music. I was kind of fun because this year I actually knew a few of the hebrew words. HA!

For Easter, we went to sac and had brunch with my family. Owen was so cute doing his first egg hunt; he is so cute doing everything. I made the bunny cake with homemade frosting, but it never got assembled. Patrick asked for a marble cake (because be claims he only got a few bites of the one at our wedding) and this took a bit longer that a plain white. So everyone was tired and we went home before decorating it. Here it is, just a plain delicious marble cake.

10 days of Growth

So the day before I left I told Patrick it would be funny if he grew a beard while I was gone and then changed my mind and said he would be too scruffy and besides, he could never stand the itchy-ness. Well, Patrick decided to grow some fur just for me and here he is, my Hobo. When we were at my parent's house this weekend, Patrick mentioned to me that nobody seem to notice his new beard. So when the family was all in the car on the way to brunch, I questioned, "Does anybody notice anything different about Patrick?" And my dad says, "Whew, yes, but we were too polite to mention anything." We all cracked up, but I think he looks cute. How about you?

Training

Well, I am back from my trip to Houston. I was blessed on the return flight and had an open seat between my self and the man on the isle! I have finished two weeks of training and am returning to a lot of work chaos and several more hoops to jump before I am an official consultant in relationship development for kiddos on the spectrum. I am really glad I went because Dr. G really changed the way I think about my students and how to intervene. Also, I met some really cool psychologists (from New York and Singapore) and an OT from Canada that are skeptics like myself. I hope to collaborate on some research with them about the effectiveness of this new program with out students. I had some delicious baklava at at Greek restaurant across the street from my hotel so I took a pic for my fellow foodies. Another great thing was that everyday during lunch, Cheynu - a massage therapist- came and gave 10 minute, neck and shoulder massages. SO fabulous, we would all be so much more productive if this was a daily occurance at all offices. Anyway, here we are, some of the newest R D I consultants in training.
