I think this was the next event. Owen had a serious birthday rager! About a hundred people showed up at my parent's house after his time at the church and the party went on all day and night. Patrick was so exhausted and sick from his week that he basically slept the day away and Owen joined him not too long into the party. I held him through the ceremony and he kept crying for grandpa. I have no idea why he loves my dad so much.? (Probably because dad lets him do all the things that no one else will!)

Owen's Christening and 1st Birthday

New kiddo
So following the shower, we got a new little guy. He was not so little this time, six years old with autism. He is really high functioning and fun! The only issue was getting him to eat because we don't do McDonalds. I put him in karate school and he made so much progress with friends. He has transitioned now to a long term foster care home. His mom is doing great and I think he is the first one of our kids that will get to go back to his parents! He had a really loving grandmother and a sweet older brother who he still sees. He's a luck one.

Jambo's Shower
Patrick and I flew to LA for Jambo's Bridal Shower. Our flight was early in the morning because Patrick signed me up for a cooking class at Ramekin School on friday night . It had been ages since I saw Jaime and I had never seen her condo. At the shower, we played games and ate cake. I made a ribbon bouquet for the rehersal dinner and took a million pictures. Patrick hung out with Steve and helped load and carry presents. We went out to dinner and country-line dancing on Saturday night and talked wedding for two days. Great fun.
Jolly ole England
I flew off and spent Pesach in England with the Merwins. They are living in Old Basingstoke, which is not quite an hour outside of London. I took an overnight flight in, but ofcourse I didn't sleep. The man sitting next to me had the worst halitosis I have ever smelled and he kept sighing and coughing in my face for over nine hours. It was TORTURE!
Everything got better once I got to Heathrow! We saw Spam-a-lot in Covent Garden, visited Jane Austin's House, toured Bath and had tea. My trip was short, but very busy and lots of fun. I drank Ribena (mmmm, blackcurrant juice), ate a Crunchie bar (chocolate-covered honeycomb), bought Owen a Paddington Bear and got a 'football' jersey for Patrick. It was cold and beautiful. I love England!
