Easter and Ester

So I was on a plane over purim and had to listen to the Megillah on my ipod. It is not nearly as fun when people are not dressed up and singing it to contemporary music. I was kind of fun because this year I actually knew a few of the hebrew words. HA!

For Easter, we went to sac and had brunch with my family. Owen was so cute doing his first egg hunt; he is so cute doing everything. I made the bunny cake with homemade frosting, but it never got assembled. Patrick asked for a marble cake (because be claims he only got a few bites of the one at our wedding) and this took a bit longer that a plain white. So everyone was tired and we went home before decorating it. Here it is, just a plain delicious marble cake.

10 days of Growth

So the day before I left I told Patrick it would be funny if he grew a beard while I was gone and then changed my mind and said he would be too scruffy and besides, he could never stand the itchy-ness. Well, Patrick decided to grow some fur just for me and here he is, my Hobo. When we were at my parent's house this weekend, Patrick mentioned to me that nobody seem to notice his new beard. So when the family was all in the car on the way to brunch, I questioned, "Does anybody notice anything different about Patrick?" And my dad says, "Whew, yes, but we were too polite to mention anything." We all cracked up, but I think he looks cute. How about you?

Training

Well, I am back from my trip to Houston. I was blessed on the return flight and had an open seat between my self and the man on the isle! I have finished two weeks of training and am returning to a lot of work chaos and several more hoops to jump before I am an official consultant in relationship development for kiddos on the spectrum. I am really glad I went because Dr. G really changed the way I think about my students and how to intervene. Also, I met some really cool psychologists (from New York and Singapore) and an OT from Canada that are skeptics like myself. I hope to collaborate on some research with them about the effectiveness of this new program with out students. I had some delicious baklava at at Greek restaurant across the street from my hotel so I took a pic for my fellow foodies. Another great thing was that everyday during lunch, Cheynu - a massage therapist- came and gave 10 minute, neck and shoulder massages. SO fabulous, we would all be so much more productive if this was a daily occurance at all offices. Anyway, here we are, some of the newest R D I consultants in training.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

I always try to have a fun day planned for my husband's name sake. Regardless of my efforts, he always gets annoyed and says, "I'm not Irish!" What a Scrooge. So this year I will post a picture of just how Patrick feels about today.

Traveling stinks

I am in Texas for a few weeks doing some training in RDI - relationship development intervention. But my trip getting here stunk! Our little cutie went home to her mommy on Monday (YEA!), but this meant I had to put her on the bus in the am and drive myself to the airport rather than take the shuttle. The drive wasn't so bad, but after parking my car, the park and ride van past me twice and didn't stop. SO I ended up being late to check-in, which meant I had to run through the airport, like a crazy person, cursing the luggage weight limit (I had to pay an extra $25) and the security line, and my miserable middle seat (ofcourse between to men who wanted to use all the arm rests and some of my leg space).

Upon arrival in Houston, I was asked whether I wanted a Taxi or a Shuttle. Being my frugal self, I chose a shuttle for half the cost. Two hours later, I shook my fist at the skies while waiting for a bus to take me away. In Houston, shuttles are slow as molasses. 2.5 hours of waiting and I boarded my coach. Huzzah! Or so I though. Apparently, we needed to circle the airport for another hour picking up other passengers. With six more aboard, we set off. The driver reassured me that we would get to my hotel in about 45 minutes. Little did I know, shuttles in Houston are not just for hotels. No, they deliver you directly to your door and I was going to be the sixth drop off of seven. Dhyar, foiled again.! As we rode out of the city into to the residential areas, for drop off number 2, a woman sitting beside me (the 7th drop off) said, "We are right near my place; can we go there next." The driver turns to her and says, "Sure, if you can give me directions. You see, this is my first week on the job."

Dododododododoododo......Welcome to the twlight zone.

I had to restrain myself from screaming. Hours later, finally all the other passengers were dropped off and I told the driver that he had to take me to the grocery store. This had taken so long, that there was no way I would have to go out again before my workshop the next day. He agreed and we pulled up to my hotel at about 11:45pm. Did I mention that this journey began at 8am and I had gotten to the airport at 6pm. I fell into the bed, exhasted. Note to self - take taxi in Texas. Buisnessmen of the world, I applaud you!

J'adore le fromage!

Apparently my Vegan ways have come to an end. Patrick took me to an Artisan Cheese Festival last Sunday. Yum, I love dairy. We probably tried over 100 kinds of cheese. Most of it was local, but a few came from Washington. Upon arrival, we got little blue cooler bags with an ice pack and a wine glass. Ours was filled with aged cheese for Patrick and creamy ones and goat cheeses for me. I also tried this weird, non-alcoholic, sparkling tea that was aged in barrels like wine. It was oddly addicting - Jasmine Moon mmmm.
